” ‘Please Come, as ye would. Look upon Him.’
And the three shepherds rise to their knees but no further. And their hands before them clasped, offering inaudible prayers each one, heads bobbing, they inch their way forward until they can see Mary’s warm gaze.
And there, snuggled within her embrace, in His swaddling clothes, is the Christ Child.
At that moment, the Child’s eyes flicker open. And all three gasp simultaneously. For it would seem that the Child has looked upon them, each one, even though newborn. And they smile. An expression of His eternal love reaches out unseen, unspoken, but embraces them without question.
One begins to sob, covering his face with his hands. The other two bend so far over to bow, their hands upraised to their foreheads in a salute of humility. And as though orchestrated by some unseen conductor, they begin to inch their way backward on their knees.
And we hear them again and again, ‘Glory, Glory.’
And so it is, this day, as the hope of those who would seek has come to the Earth. And this hope is an eternal gift. For in the presence of this tiny body physical is the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of that which honors all who would receive it. It is embraced in the arms of love and compassion.
And the crown of its presence, the jewel of its perfection is the Grace of God.”
