The World Of The Subconscious And Changing Yourself

Your mind is made up of two parts:

  • The conscious
  • The subconscious

When you go about your day, you might think that your conscious mind is running the show. But actually, your subconscious mind runs the show between 90 to 95% of the time.

What this means is that your past memories, thoughts, and beliefs are influencing what you think, say, and do each day – whether you realize it or not.  Think of your subconscious as a tape that is playing over and over. The information on that tape is mainly from what you’ve heard, experienced, and learned your first six years of life. On top of that, other memories and events since then have contributed to the voice on that tape.

When you are not in conscious thought mode (living mindfully in the present), that old tape is playing and influencing your life. This is why many people continue years and years in negative cycles such as depression, anxiety, bad relationships, hot temper, etc.

It is important to realize this.  If you want to see real and lasting change in your life, you must understand how to change the tape that is playing in the subconscious. You must learn how to eject that tape and put a new one in that plays more positive thoughts and beliefs.

Changing negative emotions comes from changing negative beliefs. And this can be done by targeting the subconscious. Here is a brief overview of some common methods of subconscious modification that can help you change and/or limit negative thoughts and faulty belief patterns. Note that the methods take somewhat of an understanding of the process, time, and practice.

Sedona Method and Release Technique

This method focuses on feeling the unwanted emotion, sitting with it momentarily, and then letting it go.

Affirmations

Affirmations are conscious repetitions of positive words or phrases about ourselves, which in time sink into our subconscious mind.

Guided Meditations

A speaker gently guides you through visualizations to work on changing underlying beliefs that may not be serving you.

Regular Meditation and Mindfulness

Meditation is a technique where you sit quietly and go within, focusing on your breath.  As you tune out the world, you become more attuned to your inner landscape, and the mind quiets down. Mindfulness is being in the present moment, focusing on the now. Practicing mindfulness and meditation regularly can help us better understanding ourselves and become more centered.

The Work

Byron Katie’s method to come to understand what is hurting you and address those problems with clarity.

Silva Method

Jose Silva’s approach to change based on Alpha and Theta meditations, visualization, and more.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Emotional release techniques based upon tapping certain meridian points on the body and speaking to the subconscious.

The Presence Process

To release emotional burden from the childhood past – this lets you live in the present.

Inner Influencing

Inner directed methods that help you gain control over your emotions.

Matrix Energetics

Uses light touch and intention to transform thoughts and beliefs.

ENERGETIC WELL BEING PROCESS(c) (EWBP)

This method focuses on what is causing the negative emotions and removing the blocks that keep you stuck there.

Shadow Work

Shadow work is a tool that psychotherapist Carl Jung created many years ago. Essentially, he proposed that throughout life, we tend to form a ‘shadow side’ in the subconscious that holds negative and some positive thoughts/emotions.  Illuminating those shadows to feel, heal, and integrate them can help us get rid of such negativity.

These methods can be used on their own, but also be combined in different ways for a greater impact. Some of the methods complement each other quite naturally. It does take some knowledge and effort, but the effort is well worth it.  We were not meant to be a slave to negative thoughts and emotions, so begin to delve into these methods and give them a try.”

In Relationship You Come To Know Your Pitfalls

“When you are in relationship with people, in a thousand and one ways you are provoked, challenged, seduced. Again and again, you come to know your pitfalls, your limitations, your anger, your lust, your possessiveness, your jealousy, your sadness, and your happiness. All moods come and go and you are constantly in a state of turmoil. But this is the only way to know who you are.
Self-knowledge is not the knowledge of a dead self.  Self-knowledge is the knowledge of the process of the self. It is an alive phenomenon. The self is not a thing, it is an event, it is a process.
Never think in terms of things, the self is not there inside you just like a thing waiting in your room…
Knowing the self is a process: changing, moving, arriving at new altitudes, moving into new planes, and going deeper into new depths.
Each moment much work is going on and the only way to encounter this self is to encounter it in relationship.

If You Want A Love That Lasts

“If you want a love that lasts, you have to be willing to be the change you wish to see. Love isn’t passive; it’s active. It’s about making the choice to love, even when it’s difficult. It’s about showing up for your partner, even when it’s the last thing you feel like doing. By being the change—by choosing love in the face of adversity—you set the tone for your relationship. You become the foundation on which real, lasting love is built.

Love someone when you don’t want to. When they aren’t the easiest to deal with. When they are hard to love.

This is the true test of love. It’s easy to love when everything is going well, but real love shows up in the tough times. It’s about staying patient when your partner is stressed, offering understanding when they are irritable, and being there when they’re at their lowest. It’s about loving them not just for their best qualities, but through their flaws and imperfections.

This kind of love requires resilience, empathy, and selflessness. But when you love someone in their hardest moments, you create a bond that’s unshakable, a love that endures the test of time.

Real love doesn’t fade when the spark is gone. It deepens through commitment, grows through patience, and lasts through every season of life.”

There Is A Right Time For Everything

Life is simple! Why make it complicated for yourself? Why choose the devious path when the straight path lies before you?

Let life unfold for you, and do not try to force its unfoldment. You cannot force the unfolding of a flower, for if you try to do so, you will destroy the beauty and perfection of that flower by your impatience.

There is a right time for everything, so why not get into rhythm with life, flow with it and behold My wonders and glories unfold in true perfection? When something is done out of timing, it holds up so much, instead of speeding it along, as may be imagined.

Therefore wait upon Me in quietness and confidence, and never try to rush ahead and do something out of timing. At the same time never drag your feet and waste precious time. Realize that there is a glorious pattern and plan running through everything you do, and give eternal thanks.

The Power Of Your Thoughts

“You are the source of all that happens to you. You decide what will happen to you. You are the sum total of all your thoughts, feelings, emotions, beliefs, expectations, intentions, goals, memories, knowledge, ability, skills, and energies. Your ability to control and regulate your life, your capacity to face adversity, your willingness to learn from failures, your interest in forging healthy relationships, your integrity, personality, balance, character, and attitude are shaped by them. They make possible what you desire in your life, how you relate to your world and experience the joys and sufferings of life.

Truly speaking, we are all great survivors. We survive against great odds. We can adapt to circumstances and survive in difficult environments. People have been doing it for ages. We may not be able to change the course of the planets, but we can change the course of our lives. With positive thoughts and aspirations, we can bring light into our hearts and minds and change our destinies. Your thoughts manifest your desires. Since they are not always under your control, you should know how to attune them to your goals and aspirations. You have to learn how to think positively and keep your mind focused on your goals. In this regard, the following suggestions are helpful …

  • Pay attention to what you think mostly. Avoid frivolous thoughts.
  • Believe in your ability to manifest your thoughts.
  • Clearly know what you want and focus on it.
  • Dispute your negative thoughts using positive ones.
  • Think deeply until you have weighed all the options.
  • Be realistic, but know you can create magic with your thoughts and actions.
  • Do not let others control your life. Empower yourself.
  • Cultivate relationships with people who are successful and positive.
  • Stay focused on your strengths and positive outcomes.
  • Avoid people who are by nature negative and critical.
  • Organize and prioritize your resources and tasks.
  • Frequently visualize your goals to remember them.
  • Use positive affirmations to reinforce your thoughts and beliefs.
  • Keep an open mind to see new possibilities and alternatives.
  • Improve your vocabulary and communication.
  • Practice meditation and mindfulness techniques to remove negative energy from your mind and body.

Some people work less and accomplish more. There are some who toil day and night, but remain unhappy and unfulfilled. Some, despite their great riches, do not experience prosperity. Driven by insecurity, they live like poor people.

For some, life is a rewarding experience. The mere sight of a flower or a sky fills them with joy and wonder. When you interact with some, you feel energized, peaceful and spiritually uplifted, but when you meet some, you feel disturbed and depressed, as if something has been taken away from you or drained out.

These differences exist because of the differences in thinking and perceptions. It is for us to decide what we want to do with our lives and in which direction we intend to go. It is up to us to decide whether to take control of our minds and thoughts or let them control us.”
