Five Buddhist Solutions for Eradicating Worry

1. Understand that we have a monkey mind. It is a Buddhist concept that describes a state of restlessness, capriciousness, and lack of control in one’s thoughts.

A monkey mind is like monkeys and trees—it jumps from one thought to another incessantly. It often stops at certain thoughts before it jumps to another thought. This stop is what we call ‘worry.’ When we worry, we should know that worrying is a natural part of the thought’s process, but it requires awareness to stop it.

2. Step back and look at the bigger picture. I like to compare worrying to a plant. The more we water it, the more it grows. Worrying can drag us in—the more we worry, the more the situation becomes disturbing. A valuable solution is to take ourselves out of the situation and look at it from a different angle. See it objectively from an altered lens. When you do so, you’ll realize that the problem doesn’t require much worry.

3. Know that worrying won’t help in any way. Worrying can’t solve any problem.  As Glenn Turner wrote, ‘Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it gets you nowhere.’  Remember all the times you worried in the past and try to investigate if your worry has helped in any way. Reflect on your present moment to see that worrying is only a waste of mental energy.

4. You’re not in control of everything. The reason why we worry is because we need to feel a sense of control over things. We hope to control the outcome, so we won’t have to face unwanted results. Know that what’s meant to happen will fall into place. Uncertainty isn’t terrifying. Befriend it and know it is a natural, smooth energy that only brings us the best.

5. Focus on the present. How we deal with our present determines our past and our future. That said, we can use our present moment to focus on what’s happening ‘now.’ When we practice mindfulness, we actually help with the realization of things falling into place. Things flow easier when we don’t push them to happen.

Figure Out How To Let In Wellness

“You could stand here sick with ten illnesses today, and tomorrow have no evidence of any of them. Your body has the ability to replenish itself that fast.

But most of you do not have the ability to change your thoughts that fast. So the amount of time that it takes between sickness and wellness is only the amount of time that it takes for me to figure out how to let it in

for me to figure out how to feel good, when I’m looking at something that makes me feel bad.

Whatever you’re thinking about is literally like planning a future event. When you’re worrying, you are planning.

When you’re appreciating you are planning…What are you planning?”

Abraham Hicks, 11/4/00, 4/19/97

“Illness is an exaggerated indicator of negative thoughts, and negative thoughts are resistance, no matter their subject.
That is the reason that new diseases continue to come about. And until the actual cause of the disease is addressed, there will never be a final cure.
You have the potential for every illness in your body right now, and you will solicit one or the other, or a mixture, depending upon your balance of thought.”

You Will Be Led

How do we find light when we experience darkness in life?
The light is within us. Once we understand this, we are never afraid of the dark.
When we experience difficult times in life, we look everywhere to find support and a way out, but there are some situations in which we feel completely alone or lost.
When this happens, we often lose hope and faith and think about giving up on life until we connect with our inner selves and re
alize that the guiding light is truly within us.
Don’t lose faith in life, even in the most challenging times. It may be difficult, and you may feel weak from within, but within you is also the strength, power, and the guiding force. Believe, meditate,
pray and keep going; you will be led, even if you don’t see a way out.

Man’s Quest For God

“Paramhansa Yogananda reveals God as ever-lasting, ever-conscious, ever-new bliss. Also saying, ‘God may be defined in countless ways: as Infinite Light, Power, Wisdom, and Bliss.’

A visitor: ‘Doesn’t it seem a bit trivial to define God as joy, and to equate man’s quest for Him with the search for happiness?  Duty, surely, is more important than the desire for personal fulfillment.  And God is such a grand concept that I can’t really imagine Him as a kind of exaltation of joy.  I read somewhere once of the wonderful solemnity of a life lived in the presence of God.  I confess I find this a much more satisfying concept.’

Paramhansa Yogananda replied: ‘Would you like to live in this wonderful solemnity for all eternity?’

‘Well, I can’t really imagine eternity,’ admitted the visitor.  ‘But no, I suppose I’d expect something more.’

Yogananda: ‘You see?  We must seek God with longing, with devotion.  And how can we long for something that isn’t deeply meaningful to us?

‘People,’ he added, ‘hold God at a distance when they regard Him with too much awe.  They go to church as a solemn duty, and wear long faces as if attending a funeral.  The truth is, finding God is the funeral of all sorrows!’

‘Before our Heavenly Father we should be like little children.  He likes that.  He has enough awesome responsibilities in running this universe!  He owns everything.  He knows everything.  He is all-powerful.  The only thing lacking to Him is our love.  That is what God wants from us: our love; our trust in Him; our joy in His infinite joy.’

‘He doesn’t need from us carefully contrived theological definitions.  And He doesn’t want prayers that are chiseled to perfection lest they give offense to His imperial ears.  He wants us to love Him in all simplicity, just like children.’ ”

Energy And Vibrations

In Delores Cannon’s The Convoluted Universe, her hypnotized subject describes the creation of energy and vibrations.

“First of all, you must realize that anything that generates energy puts out vibrations.  Things that generate light, which is a form of energy, put out light vibrations and you see them as radiating, such as a light bulb.  Or something that generates sound, you see it vibrating and you hear the sound, but it’s still vibration and it’s still energy.

Your brain also generates energy. Anything that happens in your brain generates energy and hence generates vibrations.  Which means any of your bodily processes or any of your thoughts or any emotion, puts out vibrations.  And these vibrations affect the ether that surrounds you.

You’re surrounded by and filled with and shot through with vibrations from billions of different sources.

These vibrations are of all levels and strengths.” (Editor’s Note: From the May 24 post – ‘When your sun emits solar flares, it creates movement in your physical energy field. If your energy is flowing smoothly, it receives a boost. If you have stuck energy, the light stirs it up and gets it moving. This is why so many are experiencing odd physical symptoms…’).

“Consequently, one can affect future outcomes by what one thinks.  I know you have heard this before, but I’m explaining it to you again… You just keep thinking about what you want to come to pass and it comes to pass.  Sometimes in unexpected ways, because sometimes the vibrations have to go through many channels to affect what needs to be affected.

Your brain is the vibrational center of your body. And there is a focus of these vibrations, called the solar plexus.  And that’s like a lens focusing light. The solar plexus focuses these vibrations and then sends them out again to all parts of the body, and out into your aura to keep things balanced.

When you meditate, you open yourself up to absorb vibrations to replenish your vibrations and picture them entering through the top of your head and then going down to your solar plexus. The solar plexus can spread these vibrations out to your body where they are needed so that all will be in balance.  You also need to be sure that you revitalize your aura as well, which extends way beyond your body.  And so, make sure you send an extra jolt of energy to the solar plexus, to make sure that your aura is being revitalized to its very limits to help protect you from any harm that may come in your direction.

Picture your aura as being brilliantly white or golden, or picture a pyramid of energy around you.  By whatever method you are comfortable with, because when you are interacting with other people you may need extra protection.  But at night, in the privacy of your home when you’re going to sleep, the protection of your aura should be sufficient.  You’ll be protected during the night while you’re asleep because the subconscious does a very good job of it.”
