Angels – Jane Roberts’ 1974 Seth Channeling

In one of Jane Roberts’ channelings, she was asked about angels.  Where did we get the idea that angels had wings?

¶16 Angels have been represented in just this fashion.

¶17 At one time there were also species of birds, however, with high intelligence — this was before the period mentioned earlier.2 They were not humanoid; not, for example, people with wings.

They were large birds, with the capacity for dealing with concepts. They were social, could swim well (pause), and for some time could live on the water. They had songs of great beauty, and a most extensive vocabulary. They had talons. (Her eyes wide and dark, Jane held up her hands, fingers bent as though ready to grasp — or claw.)

When he was a cave dweller,3 man saw these birds often, particularly in cliffs by water. Many times the birds saved children from falling. Man identified with their easy flight up the cliffsides, and followed the sounds of their songs to safe clearings.

These memories turned into the angel images. In each case, in those times there was the greatest cooperation, on a global scale, between species.

Those who cooperated survived, but they did not think in terms of the survival of their own species alone — but, in time terms, of a greater living picture, or world inviolate, in which all survived.”

Your Parents – Jane Roberts’ Channelling Of Seth

“There is no past, present, and future.  These only appear to those who exist within three-dimensional reality.  Since I am no longer in it, I can perceive what you do not.  There is also a part of you that is not imprisoned within physical reality, and that part of you knows that there is only an Eternal Now.  The part of you who knows this is the whole self.”  The Seth Material, Jane Roberts, p. 163.

“As I explained earlier, the lives (in reincarnation) or the plays are happening at once.  Creativity and consciousness are never linear achievements.  In each life you choose and create your own settings or environments; and, in this one, you chose your parents and whatever childhood incidents that came within your experience. You wrote the script.”

In all cases, the decisions have been made ahead of time, as I told you.

The reincarnating personality enters the new fetus according to its own inclinations, desires, and characteristics, with some built-in safeguards… The process is gradual, individual, and determined by experiences in other lives.

If there is a strong relationship between the parents and the child-to-be, then the personality may enter at the point of conception if he is extremely anxious to rejoin them.  In these circumstances, when the personality attaches itself at conception, there is almost without exception strong past life connections between parents and child.

On occasion, long before conception takes place, the personality who will end up as the future child will visit that environment of both parents-to-be, drawn again.  This is quite natural.

You may have already decided, for example now, upon the circumstances of your next incarnation.  Although in your terms your new parents may be infants now, or in your scale of time not even born, the arrangements may still be made.”

Do You Pick Your Parents Before Birth?

“Edgar Cayce said we pick our parents.  Before our birth, as we are planning our incarnation, we choose the parents who will be best for our purposes and mission in a particular incarnation.  When I speak around the country and mention this Cayce fact, I half expect some tumult: ‘What? How is that possible? Why would I pick them?’  I have also wondered about this concept. What I do with many of Cayce’s concepts is ask myself, If that were true, what would it imply?

As I look at my life now, I see how my choice of parents was critical. What I learned of psychology in childhood is key in my life now as a psychotherapist, hypnotherapist and past-life regressionist.  My Catholic upbringing gave me an appreciation of faith and spirituality, which is my deepest connection with the Cayce readings, and my great grandmother’s influence set the stage for the Cayce work on all aspects of the unseen worlds.

But what about those with parents who don’t appear to be a clear-cut constructive choice?  A woman who came to me for a regression session last year began with this: ‘I’d like to believe I picked my parents, but they were drug addicts.  My father killed himself when I was 4, my mother was psychotic, my brother killed himself at 16, and I have battled depression, anxiety, and almost every addiction you can name.  So, let’s find out why I picked these people.’

Why would someone pick a situation to experience suffering? In trance, this woman was able to come into the presence of her guides and ask them why she chose her parents.  They communicated with her telepathically, and she relayed this message to me: ‘They are telling me that I really wanted to learn in this life, and they are telling me how much I have learned.  My life is an incredible success!’

I was reminded, once again, that the soul view is very different from the ego view.  The soul comes to work, while the ego wants a pina colada in Barbados!”

The Awareness Of The One Creator

Pure consciousness is the awareness of the One Creator.

The infinite Creator creates living fractals of Its Being and extensions of Its Consciousness.

It is who we all are in our innermost being. It’s what gives us life. It is our inner light and our true nature. It is the energy of the heart of our Being.

Without boundaries, it is felt as unconditional love, compassion, and joy.

We all have free will to engage our consciousness with anything we can imagine. If we choose to be only love, we engage our natural creative power to reflect only loving experiences in our future.
We create our experiences by focusing our imagination and empowering our thoughts with our heart-felt emotions.
This creates conditions that will elicit those emotions in our experiences. If we want to live a life filled with love, peace, joy, and beauty, then we will call forth–with gratitude and determination–the emotions that accompany those conditions.
Until this becomes habitual, it requires intentional effort.
If we then just rest our awareness in a neutral space, not wanting any eventualities, we can enjoy those conditions. All that is required is that we feel wonderful. We intentionally treat everyone in every circumstance with love and compassion, knowing that we are living in a realm where everyone is kind and joyful.
The energetic expression of our Creator appears in everyone and in everything.
Miracles happen whenever needed or asked for with a grateful heart for the greatest benevolence for all.
We can focus on how we feel best, until it becomes our habit, and we can do it intentionally whenever needed in any situations—especially challenging ones. This is how the divine current of life flows through our being, providing us with continuing experiences filled with loving beings and circumstances of elevated awareness.
This can be our new world. It already exists just waiting for us all to feel it and recognize it. Here we can live entirely within the guidance of our highest nature as expressed through the energy of the heart of our Being.”

If You Are One Of The Many

“If you are one of the many people who have an issue with their parents, if you still harbor resentment about something they did or did not do, then you still believe that they had a choice — that they could have acted differently.

It always looks as if people had a choice, but that is an illusion.  As long as your mind with its conditioned patterns runs your life, as long as you are your mind, what choice do you have?  None.

You are not even there.  The mind-identified state is severely dysfunctional.  It is a form of insanity.  Almost everyone is suffering from this illness in varying degrees.  The moment you realize this, there can be no more resentment.  How can you resent someone’s illness?  The only appropriate response is compassion.

Compassion is the awareness of a deep bond between yourself and all creatures.  You share the vulnerability and mortality of your physical form with every other human.  You die as an earthly mortal. A humbling realization of your shared humanity leaves little room for pride.

‘Forgiveness’ is a term that has been in use for two thousand years, but most people have a very limited view of what it means.

You cannot truly forgive yourself or others as long as you derive your sense of self from the past.  Only through accessing the power of Now, which is your own power, can there be true forgiveness.

This renders the past powerless, and you realize deeply that nothing you ever did or that was ever done to you could touch even in the slightest the radiant essence of who you are.  The whole concept of forgiveness then becomes unnecessary.

When you surrender to what is and so become fully present, the past ceases to have any power.  You do not need it anymore.  Presence is the key.  The Now is the key.”
