“How can you let your individuality set the tone for the day and keep your personality from asserting itself, at least temporarily? The Cayce readings recommended a creative habit that can make the difference. In essence, it’s a prayerful, mindful attitude that invites spiritual guidance.
First thing in the morning, as you’re waking, dedicate one minute to God. If worries, concerns, or desires try to squeeze themselves into your thoughts, gently but firmly instruct them to wait – no doubt, they’ll get their turn later.
For this first minute of the day, as the transition from sleep to wakefulness is being completed, give your individuality top priority and mindfully reincarnate into physical consciousness. One way to hold this mindful, prayerful attitude when you first wake is to silently say to yourself, God, what would you have me do today?
Repeat this several times, and it’s fine to adjust the words of this prayer so that they feel right for you, What’s important is that you say the words with sincerity, that you really mean them. Feel your openness to being guided and your willingness to live in this open and receptive state that’s attuned to Spirit. Then, listen for an inner response, an intuitive prompting, an inner knowing about what’s important for the day ahead.”
