“Every prayer you say is heard–every word of it. And every prayer is answered. Prayers are answered within the organic structure of the laws. That is, the universe will not intervene in consequences that must be played out! If I overspend, praying to win the lottery so I can keep spending is a waste of time. Praying to confront my addiction to overspending is going to get me help fast.
Prayer is the intimate language of this universe. Don’t ask for stuff. Don’t pray like you are some child needing more and more toys. Pray for the guidance that makes you a better person, that makes you more forgiving, that makes you a person of integrity, that makes you someone others can rely upon, that makes you strong enough to endure the power of a direct hit from God. Pray to handle the graces so they can flow right through you. And pray so that you love so much that you have room for strangers in your heart.
Never doubt the presence of the Divine. Life is getting more chaotic with each day and we may well continue on this path for some time. Then pray all the more for day-to-day guidance. learn to listen to whispers, inner hunches and words of courage. Guidance always empowers you — always.
That’s how you pray. And don’t look for proof that your prayers have been answered. Become the answers to your prayers. Assume heaven is breathing down your back, because it is.”
