“Personal responsibility needn’t be a burden. It’s a blessing to own your life. Be the master of your destiny with a vested interest in your actions. Take pride in who you are and what you do. Stand tall by taking charge rather than outsourcing your responsibility to others. Accountability can’t be delegated. If you look in the mirror and don’t like what you see, don’t blame the mirror. It can’t be done for you; it must be done by you.
A positive mental attitude can improve your health, enhance your relationships, increase your chances of success, and add years to your life. What can you do to change your mindset? Here are seven places to start.
Get real. Things happen. Get over it. Even if life were a bed of roses, you’d still need to avoid the thorns.
See it from a different angle. Don’t blow things out of proportion and make a mountain out of a molehill.
Stop feeling sorry for yourself. If you can’t make it better, don’t make it worse by being negative. Whenever you think you have it bad, you find someone who has it worse.
Be nice. Some people are nicer to friends than they are to themselves. When you say, “I’m such an idiot,” “I can’t do anything right,” or “I’m such a loser,” you undermine your self-worth and confidence.
Break the habit. Are you filling your head with empty calories? Stop complaining. It won’t solve anything. It’ll only drag you down.
Fake it. Be conscious of your thoughts and try to see the bright side. As Dale Carnegie said, “Act enthusiastic and you will be enthusiastic.”
